Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology

The Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO®) was established as a not-for-profit organization in 1969 to offer certification and continuing education for ophthalmic allied health personnel. Since then, more than 25,000 people in the US, Canada, and around the world have earned JCAHPO certification. JCAHPO's mission is to enhance the quality and availability of ophthalmic patient care by promoting the value of qualified allied health personnel and by providing certification and education.

JCAHPO offers three core levels of certification: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA); Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT); and Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).

Professional and Academic Affiliations and Partnerships: Association of Technical Personnel in Ophthalmology (ATPO); Canadian Society of Ophthalmic Medical Personnel (CSOMP); Committee on Accreditation of Ophthalmic Medical Programs (CoA-OMP).
