LAND NAVIGATION BY CORRESPONDENCE

Course Number: 0381C; 0385B.

Location: Marine Corps Institute, Washington, DC.

Length: Maximum, 52 weeks.

Exhibit Dates: 6/00–9/13.

Learning Outcomes: Before 2/92 see MC-1601-0048. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to navigate with a map and compass, plan and prepare a route, and navigate by natural means.

Instruction: Practical exercises, and correspondence. Topics include introduction to military maps, distance and direction, elevation and relief, course maintenance and orientation, planning and executing, land navigation using natural means, and GPS and PLGR systems.

Credit Recommendation: In the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in land navigation/military science/orienteering. NOTE: MCI designates a minimum passing score at 65%. (9/03)(9/03).
